In the picturesque district of Doltcho, the visitor can visit the Delinanio Folklore Museum. The building that houses the museum is a traditional 19th century mansion. Its owners, Anastasios Delinanos and his wife Zoe Doikos, donated it to the Progressive Ladies’ Association of Kastoria. Since then, thanks to the care of the Ladies of the Association, the place has been operating as a museum since 1997. Having Woman as its main focus, the Museum highlights the traditional way of life of the inhabitants of Kastoria.
The visitor has the opportunity to gain a complete picture of the life of a Kastorian woman, from her wedding day and celebrations, to her daily tasks and household. The Museum’s exhibits include a rich collection of women’s clothing, lingerie, wedding dresses, urban and traditional dresses, which come from donations made by members of old Kastorian families, as well as expatriates from abroad. The collection is complemented by household items, embroidery, textiles and utilitarian objects from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Old photographs belonging to the museum depict the people who lived in the town. In the Museum’s premises, visitors have the opportunity to buy books by Kastorian authors.
