The Church of Profitis Ilias (patron saint of fur traders), built on the grounds of Agios Athanasios, is located in a privileged position, which enables one to enjoy from above the unique beauty of the city and the lake of Kastoria. In the grove of Profitis Ilias we can find a cafeteria, restaurant, swings, basketball courts and a small park, combined with the wonderful view of the northern beach of the city. The fenced area, which is home to deer and peacocks, adds a special colour.
Following the path that leads even higher, to Agios Athanasios, we will find ourselves at the top of the homonymous hill. There the view is most impressive towards the southern beach of the town. On the road from Profitis Ilias to Agios Athanasios, one can also see the mountain theatre, where interesting cultural events take place in the summer. The Mountain Theatre (Theatro Vounou) in Kastoria is located between the hill of Profitis Ilias and the hill of Agios Athanasios, on the eastern side of the city. It is an open, amphitheatrical space, built on the model of an ancient theatrical stage. Due to its location, the view of the city and the lake of Kastoria and its acoustics, creates a wonderful atmosphere during the performances.
