This new museum was founded in Mavrochori Kastoria by the couple Panagiotidis Dimitris and Theochari Theofano. It is housed in two buildings of local architecture, where the visitor will be able to see scenes of everyday life of our people, in an effort to revive customs and traditions nationwide.
Also in the museum an entire village has been created with reference to pre-war years, where the visitor can admire the shops and houses of the era, in life size. The old forgotten trades are exhibited – carpenter, tinker, shoemaker, blacksmith etc. Down in the museum, in a cave, an entire race of Archanthropes (early humans), working on leather, weapons, cooking utensils, tools, in a difficult struggle for survival.
The diverse exhibits are divided into thematic sections so that visitors – especially schoolchildren – can easily and methodically learn about the evolution of our civilization from ancient times to modern times.
The cycle of bread, wool, harvesting, cooking utensils, fire, uniforms, weaponry, musical instruments, etc. are listed.
The life-size wax figures depict simplistic picturesque figures of all ages, village and town at the time of work and toil in period costumes. The antiques are authentic pieces and they are countless!
